Diagnostic Services
Quick and Convenient
Healing is a process that begins with an accurate diagnosis and advanced treatment starts with the right diagnostics. We proudly offer several onsite comprehensive diagnostic services to help guide your care.
Tests and Procedures
Bone Density (DEXA) Scan
Osteoporosis affects more than 50 million Americans over age 50. These numbers are rapidly increasing as the Baby Boomers age. This scan uses dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) to measure bone density and screen for osteoporosis.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound imaging uses sound waves to produce pictures of the inside of the body. It is used to help diagnose the causes of pain, swelling, and infection in the body’s internal organs and to examine a baby in pregnant women and the brain and hips in infants. It’s also used to help guide biopsies, diagnose heart conditions, and assess damage after a heart attack. Ultrasound is safe, noninvasive, and does not use ionizing radiation.
Pulmonary Function Testing
This test to measure lung function is important for assessing conditions such as asthma, cystic fibrosis and COPD.
Echocardiogram
An echocardiogram is an ultrasound of the heart. It is used to evaluate heart size, chamber size, wall thickness, valve function, and overall heart function.
A small amount of gel is applied to your chest over the area to be studied. A hand-held transducer uses sound waves to produce a picture of your heart. Measurements and calculations are taken to evaluate the size and function of your heart.
Carotid Doppler
A Carotid Artery Ultrasound is performed to evaluate the main arteries in the neck that take blood to the brain.
A small amount of gel is applied to the skin over the area to be studied. A hand-held transducer is used to take pictures that show the walls of the arteries, blood flow, and any plaque in the arteries. The velocity of the blood flow is measured, to pinpoint the level and severity of possible disease.
Vascular Ultrasound
Venous insufficiency is a problem with the flow of blood from the veins in the legs back to the heart. It’s also called chronic venous insufficiency or chronic venous stasis. Veins have valves that keep the blood moving in one direction – toward the heart. In venous insufficiency, the valves in the veins of the leg don’t work right, causing fluid to pool in the legs. This can lead to problems that include varicose veins. Your doctor can diagnose venous insufficiency by examining your legs and by using a type of ultrasound test (duplex Doppler) to find out how well blood is flowing in your legs.
Segmental Pressure Testing for PAD
A noninvasive test for diagnosing peripheral artery disease (PAD) using blood pressure measurements at the arms and ankles utilizing Doppler sound wave technology.
Nuclear Cardiac Stress Testing
A nuclear stress test is a way to measure blood flow to the muscle of your heart. Two sets of pictures are taken to view your heart. The first set is taken while you are resting; the second set is following exercise, either on a treadmill or with medication.
ALCAT® Sensitivity Lab Testing
The Alcat Test may help uncover which foods and other substances trigger chronic inflammation and its related health issues such as gastrointestinal, metabolic disorders and others. The Alcat Test measures cellular reactions to over 450 substances. Medical studies using the Alcat Test to guide diet have shown significant improvement of many common symptoms.
Holter Monitoring
A Holter monitor is a small, wearable device that keeps track of your heart rhythm. Your doctor may want you to wear a Holter monitor for one to two days. During that time, the device records all of your heartbeat.
EGD
Your doctor performs an esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) to examine the lining of your esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. The esophagus is the muscular tube that connects your throat to your stomach and the duodenum, which is the upper part of your small intestine.
Colonoscopy
During a colonoscopy, your doctor uses a thin, flexible camera to check for abnormalities or disease in your lower intestine or colon. During a
colonoscopy, your doctor may also take tissue samples for biopsy. They may also remove abnormal tissue such as polyps.
Allergy Testing
Complete allergy testing and immunotherapy for effective control of environmental allergy symptoms. Includes skin end-point titration testing and weekly or bi-weekly injections tailored to patient sensitivity. We also provide patient education on avoidance techniques.
Sleep Studies
Sleep Lab of Columbia, accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, performs an overnight study that charts brain waves, heartbeat, and breathing to test for sleep-related breathing disorders that disrupt restful and restorative sleep.
Diabetes Screening
Type 2 diabetes is a common and serious disease in the United States and worldwide. However, it’s thought that one-third of those with type 2 diabetes are unaware that they have this serious illness. Because often there are no symptoms with type 2 diabetes, early screening may help people avoid the more serious complications of this disease, including chronic hyperglycemia that’s associated with long-term damage of the eyes, kidneys, nerves, heart, and blood vessels.
72-hour Continuous Glucose Monitoring
Continuous glucose monitors or CGMs can be a lifesaving device for people with any type of diabetes. They continually check your blood sugar 24 hours a day and alert you before you begin experiencing low or high blood sugar levels. They can reduce the number of times you have to check your blood sugar each day which is welcome news for any diabetic patient.
Urodynamic Tests
A series of tests to diagnose problems with frequent or painful urination, incontinence, and recurrent urinary infections.
